Traditional Hotrod Calendar 2011

Made another calendar, this time for 2011. Pinhole shots have appeared smaller in the preview, but they are all the same A4 size. $30 + $2 post

Sam taken with an Asahi Takumar 85mm f1.8 lens on the Olympus E-PL1. Apertures pretty much wide open so a narrow band of his face is in focus, just what I was looking for; eyes sharp as tacks. Blue filter has accentuated the freckles!

entry as below

Metallica in Auckland Oct 13

Robert Trujillo, originally uploaded by tanalised.

went and saw Metallica at Vector arena on Wed Oct 13, which was pretty hardcore. Took some photos with a little Olympus 9010 which zooms out to 280mm and shoots 720p HD movies as well. Very nice.
This blokes an utter animal; his knuckles nearly drag on the ground.
He;s added some real spark back into Metallica: Rob Trujillo!

curvaceous

& this 1940 Ford Sedan took out a highly commended at the North Shore Salon of Photography 2010. Overall our photo club had 4 members who received awards & to qualify for a highly commended it means thats this image was in the top 2% of entries. No mean feat; not quite as good as my Gold last year, but it was always going to be hard to top that!

Another one

taildragger, originally uploaded by tanalised.

Beautiful 40 Coupe, captured crookedly by my grungy pinhole.
Bit of a lean on.
You wouldn't believe the amount of chemical (fondly referred to as "goop" by Polaroid lovers) they pack into each sheet of film. This is the shit that hardens up and blocks the rollers.

While experimenting with the Pinholaroid, the first shot I tried failed because the rollers were gummed up from the last shooting session with it (about Jan 2010), so I pulled it apart at lunch over a Jack Daniels, and got it running again.
So here they are: emulsion blemishes, scars, raindrops and all. Adds to the shithouse effect I believe.

Hi.
Have produced a photo book on Traditional Rods.
It's not very long, only 20 pages; each page is 28 cm by 21 cm. It looks mint.Have a look at a 5 page sample on Issuu (or right here actually!)

Costs $30 NZ.
Contact me here if you want one.

Cheers

jamie leaps

jamie leaps, originally uploaded by tanalised.

My 5 year old Jamie leaps out of his rapidly deflating paddling pool, with joy at being cool. God, it's been a hot dry summer north of Auckland.
Shot with a manual Vivitar 105mm wide open at f2.4, 1/2000th of a second.
Stopped them water droplets nicely.
Entered this into the NZ Herald summer photo competition, where it did get published in a Saturday edition, but sadly progressed no further

Mamaroid

Mamaroid, originally uploaded by tanalised.

Mamaroid

saw this Mamiya RZ67 Polaroid back for sale very cheaply on local auction site; have attached a hacksawed off cardboard barrel from a glenfiddich bottle for a "lens" protrusion; sealed all of it with black silicon goop, and popped the cap from the container back on the front. Fitted perfectly. Then just a hole through the centre to stick in my patented Barrel 51 aluminium can aperture, epoxy in a tripod mount, and away we go. A sort of 6x6 size pinholaroid, the Mamaroid.

Still having fun with my Pinhole Camera; here's a photo from the Kumeu Carshow of Rocket Speed Equipments Truck with a Model A body on the deck
